This wallpiece is a further exploration of the possibilities of my construction technique of layered lightly curved hammer-formed plates closely fitted over one another to form very low relief, delicately curved shapes. In my sketchbooks I have come up with several compositions that look somewhat cocoon-like as this one does. It gives the impression of a form swaddled or shrouded with some form of wrapping.

The piece is formed by cutting and shaping brass sheets by hand, then patinaing them with traditional sculptural patinas applied while heating the metal with a torch, then bolting those sheets together.

This piece is quite light in weight and is hung, unlike most of my wallpieces, with a loop of picture wire which comes already attached to the back. This makes it easy to hang on any wall using just one or two nails. If you intend to hang the piece out of doors please let me know and I can replace the picture wire with brass or copper wire which will not rust.

Like most of my pieces it can be hung any direction; horizontally, it has a fish-like form.
