Artist's description:

This narrative painting is partly allegorical, mainly autobiographical and echoes the poses of Guiseppe Cesari's Mannerist painting 'Expulsion of Adam and Eve'. Inspired by an incident walking the dog in Bishopstoke woods, Hampshire, when an eighty year old Spitfire aircraft thundered overhead powered by its Merlin engines and soon after there was a brief hailstorm. Two cyclists dressed in tweeds on bespoke bicycles freewheel past a row of artificial trees, whilst a dog stops and stares. I wanted to capture this memorable incident in paint on canvas.

I use Winsor and Newton professional acrylics and glazes and the painting has a high gloss, deep lustrous surface. The edges of the canvas are painted and glazed to enable the artwork to be displayed with or without a frame.

The painting is supplied with fittings for hanging and a certificate of authenticity.
