I called this painting 'Volcano'. I can see a quiet volcano or dormant volcano, a low viscosity lava where pressure is not built up to explosive levels but has the potential to do so.
The sides are painted. Two professional hooks are already mounted, so you just need two nails to hang the painting.
Signed and dated on the back.
101.6 x 76.2 x 3.8 cm.
The canvas is from Winson & Newton primed with specially formulated acid free and gesso which gives superior adhesion and penetration of colour.
I find my inspirations in Nature, in all its colours, materials and movements - for example the grey of concrete in a City or the smoothness of the clouds.
To the Artist, a canvas isn't just cloth and pigment on a frame; it’s a mirror that reflects the heart with all of its joys and sorrows, inspirations and fears. My paintings are a reflection of myself. Each piece is a unique expression of my response to the world and people around me. This is a slow process and takes a few weeks, sometimes months to get a painting finished.
My pieces of art are created informally. Each step builds on the previous step, leaving room for chance. Without any tangible idea in mind, I let my feelings flow onto the canvas. To me, Art has no rules. Sometimes this ends up sometimes with my hands along with my brushes, on the walls and floors as well as on the canvas – it’s all about experimentation
