Artist's description:

Original artwork for a Christmas card with a Victorian theme. Some card designs were very ornate and cost a lot to print. As printing methods improved, Christmas cards became much more popular and were produced in large numbers from about 1860. In 1870 the cost of sending a post card, and also Christmas cards, dropped to half a penny. This meant even more people were able to send cards. I chose a simple design in which l included some christmas favourites, holly, robin, bauble etc. I have also included some Christmas colours, red, green and gold. The un-addressed envelope means it could be coming to you!
