This painting is inspired by the famous painting "Vase with Fifteen Sunflowers" by Vincent Van Gogh. I changed the subject from sunflowers to orchids, which are my favourite flowers. The painting shows ten blue blossoms and one white blossom of orchids. Blue orchids dont exist in nature and can just be created by colouring white orchids. The single white orchid expresses a sense of lonelyness and isolation. The different colours of the painting are all related and create an enjoyable composition.
