This piece is currently on display at a gallery. These 18" x 48" panels are constructed on Luan wood with a 1" wood cradle, ready to hang. These were some of the first in the series of pieces I did earlier this spring. After working through some paintings for a while I was viewing old Japanese works from my godmother (who was a Japanese artist) and thought I would try this orientation of long thin panels, which was an orientation she used often. Automatically it came together, there was a flow that was natural to me as well as the painting. I went on to do this series using bright strong reds and pinks but with nice peaceful expansions of white with interesting textures, sealed with a high gloss varnish and ready to hang. They are perfect individually for small areas or together (there are 4 in total) to cover a larger space. As you can see from the additional image they are lovely to hang together as well.
