"The red storm", oil on paper, 21X29,7 cm
The sunset is always a special moment, when colors can reach an extraordinary intensity.
But the horizon, on land or on sea, is, for me, the symbol of hope, of something to achieve. What we do not see yet but that makes us dream. Which makes you want to move forward, to continue, to live. Finally, it is the very symbol of human life : immensity and discovery.
For this landscape oil painting, I played on a colorful contrast between red and pale yellow. The luminous contrast also occurs in the dark ground, of a transprent magenta red almost black, and the point of warm light just above the horizon, where the sun has disappeared and where its light is still blinding.
I use some transparent colors in glazes, so, there's a richness and depth of tones and a purity of colors.
