This linocut print is the second in my series 'Fragrant Memories' capturing memories of places travelled through flowers, colours and symbology. This is based on a hand-drawn original design which was then carved into a lino block, and subsequently hand printed.
This print evokes the smells, sights and sounds of a Tuscan landscape. When I think of Tuscany, I think of vast fields of glorious sunflowers, vibrant red earth (and wine!) and reddish-brown pottery.
This print is in deep red-brown, and I have tapped into my memories of visits to several museums with Italian and Roman pottery. Common themes include vine leaves and olive branches that I have used here in my design too. The tilework is also very evocative of local architecture.
This print will be attractive to anyone with love of Italian culture and landscape.
This is a limited edition of only 50 prints, each of which was printed individually by hand using oil-based inks on fine strong Japanese Hosho paper giving it a unique finish and dreamy quality. This paper does not yellow with age. Due to the handmade nature of the printing process, minor variations can occur between the various prints in an edition, making each of them unique and original.
The print is sent unframed with a firm backing and wrapped beautifully using cellophane and tissue paper. However, if you would like a framed ready to hang, please do contact me and I will be happy to discuss options. I have previously created personalised gift options for customers on several occasions.
