Artist's description:

"Tube Bars" is a photographic collage bringing together portraits of people on the tube network in the London Underground. The different tube lines captured are distinguished by the colours of the bars found on different tube lines. I love the vibrancy and pattern of these colours and how from a distance, the picture works almost on an abstract level with its horizontal lines of stripes of colour. On close inspection, the collage brings together many faces of people using the Tube in this world city.

This work is one of my signature photographic collages. For each artwork, I take hundreds of images of life in motion in a chosen landscape over a period of time. Through the deliberate process of choosing and editing my photographs a pattern evolves creating a new and unique landscape—compressing both time and space into a singular artwork. I am interested in expanding the photographic singular moment into a distinctive work of art which encompasses many moments.

I've produced seven large-scale collages to date, which include depictions of typical urban experiences such as escalators and Tube trains, contrasting with the more open, natural spaces of the seaside and Hampstead Heath. In 2012 the collage "Escalators" was released to the media where it was published worldwide to critical acclaim. The collages were most recently exhibited at the Koukan Gallery, North London in November 2014 in the show "So Near, So Far".

"Tube Bars" is part of an edition of 25 prints across 3 different sizes:
