Artist's description:

These trees caught my attention because they are all dead. Not just dormant, but in late summer, all dead. The contrast between the extinguished life below and the uncomprehending rockface is a metaphor to me of the relationship we humans have with our planet. If we die the planet will survive. It will not miss our fleeting prescence on its surface.
