Artist's description:

A portrait of a beautiful woman stylised and simplified to enhance her wonderful pose.

Painted during a trip to Edinburgh when I was attending a workshop based on the style of Egon Scheile. The composition points upwards to lead us to her wistful expression.

Linear strokes of charcoal define the drawing. Then thin layers of acrylic add peachy warm tones to her face. Her dress is a punchy Indian yellow which contrasts beautifully with the Ultramarine background.

I have taken photos in natural and artificial light to show the two different effects.
