This image was inspired by Ignacy Tokarczyk’s photo of Monica Butryn. However, the photo became just an inspiration to outline a completely new story. I gave the a different meaning to woman’s silhouette. On the prototype the female figure is wearing eye patch. I gave up that item. Also, space is treated differently. In Tokarczyk’s photo the space is limited by walls of the corridor which suggests the way without any possibilities of change. The closed doors means that this is an important moment in the journey. In my artwork it is not a woman, but the space which dominates, it is more important than the woman’s form appearing in this vast, dark and cold space, it could be a ballroom, but we have not certainty of it. The heroine reached the end of her journey, however, it seems to be too late ...
I wonder what you think about these two interpretations.
This artwork is painted on canvas stretched on wooden frame. I was using professional grade acrylics with premium quality colour pigments that have high resistance to fading. The lights and shadows are obtained by superposing many layers of paint which is my own way to create moods and feelings. This technique is unique for myself. The painting is finished with two coats of satin varnish to protect the artwork from UV rays and dust and also enhances the intensity and luminosity of colours. Sides are continuously painted, so there is no need to frame. The picture is ready for wall mounting.
I have signed the artwork on the side and titled it on the back.
I have great experience with all preparation needed to guarantee you the fast and save shipment of your artwork.
