Brightly coloured galloping creatures that give us an unexpected view into a more humorous world.

Small sculptures that transform our furniture into their own landscapes, created in a beautiful vibrant British eco-resin that is distinctive and affordable.

These tiny people are perched on the top of their narrow, transparent, jewel-like creatures as they lollop along. The rocking of the cantering means that the movements of the riders describe a large arch through the air, making them at once stationary and wildly mobile. The colours of the creatures alternately blend in with or stand out from their environment, camouflaging or highlighting them in equal measure. Small characters that seem to gallop through the furniture of our every-day lives.

I made these sculptures by modelling with wax onto a wire armature, or framework, and then I moulded and cast them using my own innovative casting technique. The Tiny Riders are made of a beautiful translucent British eco-resin, allowing interesting glimpses through to their internal structure. You can see pictures of how I made them in the “Me at Work” section of my Profile. They are mounted on individual semi-translucent almost black flat acrylic bases, and are 36cm long all together, 9cm tall, and 5cm wide including the bases. They are initialled on each creature’s right side near its tail, and come with a signed letter of authentication stating its edition number. They are robust and can withstand small knocks and movements in the home. Being made in a light-weight material, they weigh less than half a kilo each, and are easy to transport and move about. I package them in a sturdy cardboard box and they travel very well by courier.

These sculptures are beautiful to live with, and they provide a moment of surprise as you glimpse them running across your furniture, offering a chance to see things afresh.
