Artist's description:
"Time and Old Friends" is a masculine still life subject subject matter. This painting would be appropriate for a den or man cave. Still life can take on a multitude of genres, from Impressionistic to Tonalistic, from photo-realistic to tromp L’oeil. My works seems to fall into a class between realism and tromp L’oeil. As a youngster in my teens, my idol was the tromp L’oeil Master of the time, Michael William Harnett. A close second to Harnett was John Peto, one of Harnett’s contemporaries. .Harnett was known for his attempts to “fool the eye” with his work while Peto’s work was more in the realm of a moderate to loose realism. They each had merits, one over the other.
