The title "Tiger, Tiger" comes from the poem "The Tiger" by William Blake. My inspiration actually comes from the "burning bright" description of Blake's tiger. Painting the eyes cold, unpredictable, wild and alive helps me to visually define "burning bright". Filling the canvas with a close up of the tiger's face, leaves no doubt what I want you to see. Using a large brush to render the face, gives the painting a very strong presence and adds to the power of the subject.
