This oil painting was created in my Sheffield studio, looking out of my studio window at the abstract shapes created by work to demolish a large building opposite. I was fascinated by the way the human eye tends to focus on one detail and subsequently blurs other details. Light and form is very important in this work. The season it was created in (Autumn) is reflected in the earth tones of the final piece.
'Through the window' is part of a new series of abstract paintings focussing on industrial/semi-industrial landscapes.
The oil paints are a high quality pigment and I always use Premium Wide depth 10oz Stretched Cotton Canvas. I use a greener alternative to traditional turpentine and white spirit.
