Artist's description:

I found an old newspaper report about a house fire that occurred back in the 60s near where I live. The neighbours saw flames coming out of the windows and tried to get in to rescue anyone inside. The family weren't in at the time, thankfully, but the fact that the neighbours didn't know this and still risked their lives to save them is pretty amazing. A boy ran to call for the fire bregade. The house and all of the processions were lost. But with a community like that I guess they wouldn't have struggled to find shelter.

Materials used:

Acrylic, ink, pastel and coloured pencil on newspaper and wooden frame.
