Artist's description:

Impalas are also popular animals which I observe when I am at the National game parks. I was able to paint this from observation quite close up then at a later point I carried on the artwork from my studio.
The composition of the three impalas stood out from the page including a bit of the legs and the top of the body. Stroking down that soft brown orange fur with my brush on the faces and the body made the piece very effective. I mixed the browns, reds and yellow thoroughly on my palette to capture that color quality.
Impalas have beautiful color fur on their skins which makes it more the reason to paint them. With the background I created a light pastel brown effect making it different to the brown colors painted on the deers. The water effect is combined with various types of green mixtures and slight bits of blue and brown giving it a watery edge to the painting with soft ripples.
Overall I enjoyed the colors created onto the impalas including the light and dark details surrounding the face. The eyes turned out even better.
