Artist's description:
Three's Company - Three
Robert Scott Hooper's photography style has always been to keep it natural. He prefers God's light when possible, little make-up, unfussy backgrounds and real women. Even today, with the power of photoshop to brush away all the flaws, you will never see plastic skin on the women he shoots. More often than not, especially with couples, the stage was set mostly for their comfort because he fully expects that if he has chosen the right models, magic will happen and he just needs to be ready to capture it.
And this may have been the day that sent him on that road to keeping it real. He laughs when he talks about this shoot, saying "Three gorgeous women invited me into their world and I just had to have film in the camera and keep up! "
True story. This was Las Vegas in the early seventies and two of the girls were good friends of his, one of them gay and one just trying to discover who she was. They were both dancers in major production shows and models he'd worked with several times before. When they invited him over to witness their seduction of a third girl, brand new to the ways of Sappho, he decided to experiment with the film exposure and processing to get this grainy, dreamy effect. The lamp light that was there in that tiny apartment was all he used, and the wine, music and women did the rest.
