Three figures standing onto of an animal form. This is one of a series of pieces inspired by a visit to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and the fertility symbols I found there. I begin by throwing a stoneware form on the wheel for both the human and animal form distorting and working the piece as it dries. I have a clear picture of what it is I am making before I start which can often change in the making. The texture is created by scratching into the soft clay and rubbing in slips after the first firing.
