Artist's description:

I was Artist in Residence at the Bundanon Trust in Australia, during October - November 2013. The AiR Complex is in the middle of the Australian bush, 30 mins away from the nearest town.
While I was here, I made the most of my surroundings - nature, the bush, the sun - to create these cyanotype prints. Cyanotype is an old photographic method - these "monoprints" are in fact printed onto paper coated with a cyanotype solution. The process is more akin to photography, but each one is slightly different and unique - hence not a limited edition.

Thistle is one of the 20 most noxious invasive plants in Australia. Like many others, it was introduced to Australia by British settlers and has become a serious problem, invading areas of bush and keeping animals out. My series explores the beauty of these plants, in attempt to look at an understand how our choices (for aesthetic or other reasons) have an impact on the land.
