Original artwork description:

This shipwreck has become the icon of the Mahaire Chlochair Strand in Gaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal, Ireland. The story goes that a (perhaps drunken) fisherman ran aground on the beach and simply just left his boat there and walked home- some 15 years ago. The mast has since collapsed and the wood is becoming home to innumerable barnacles and mussels. This boat will never sail again but a new phase has begun with the transformation into a cacophony of colour and texture. In this ageing I find incredible beauty- the beauty of change, of metamorphosis and of course, the deliciousness in the colours. It is this lushness of the ordinary that I hope to share with others; metaphorically speaking, even the most seemingly awful thing can conceal a world of beauty if one takes the time to look closely.
