Artist's description:

A 12 inch by 8 inch photograph printed onto a 16 inch by 12 inch Kodak specialist paper.

I visited a place I had been eager to see and make a project of for sometime. Horopita Motors, in the heart of New Zealand's North Island. Here there are acres of dismantled vehicles dating from the 1920's to the 1970's. Nothing has been scrapped. If it didn't sell it stayed and thus all the pieces are still lying around the storerooms or collected together neatly inside the store rooms. In places, nature is battling through the metal to reclaim it's position and makes a fetching harmony between machinery and nature. In 1981 the film "Smash Palace" was filmed here and consequently Horopito Motors is now known internationally. I felt very privileged to meet these old timers of cars who, whilst being derelict, had to me become beautiful in a whole new and fabulous way.
