Original artwork description:

I painted this acrylic in what is traditionally called "a controlled pour", modeling myself after the world of Helen Frankenthal. Instead of pouring onto raw canvas as she did, I prepared a 24x24 panel of MDF (maximum density fiber) board, and coated it with several layers of absorbent ground, the kind used in encaustic, for example, when the paint really needs to bind and soak into the surface and yet be archival with no light-shift over time. The grid-like pattern at the top resulted from tipping the running paint this way and that, then I embellished it with thicker applications of light turquoise and the streaks (that look like Spanish moss to me), are painted with silver metallic paint. Several shades of green: forest, viridian, teal, blues, including midnight blue, touches of lavender and yellow and the light shades of aqua and turquoise. This one has won high praise in exhibition. It is framed in a silver wooden frame that's "beaded" (see photos), comes shipped with a digitally-registered Certificate of Authenticity (so that you can register, insure and transfer this work and stay appraised of its growing worth). Signed and dated on the back.

Materials used:

MDF, acrylic paint
