Artist's description:

I did the oil painting using my pastel study i did in situ at Giverny when I visited Monet's lovely Garden in May. I managed to get a seat on a bench looking across the large Pond towards the Japanese Bridge. The waterlilies were coming out and the wisteria and the different coloured foliage of the trees and shrubs were fresh and vibrant. Visitors passed continually as I sketched and I had to hurry as I had to return to Paris.
