Artist's description:

Facebook ironically is not a book and is probably used daily more than the original book (the bible). I have taken what are exclusively digital Mediums and created a mixed media 2D artwork exploring a number of related themes.

It’s bold – a statement maker and one that suits both decorative motifs as well as a stand-alone piece of art.

To create such a piece I utilise a wooden panel, allowing me to physically score and gauge the surface.

Along with being aesthetically pleasing, I want such works to involve the social, political and economic themes in which I live, as well as having a particular leaning towards the social and digital world that’s such a large part of my life. The sharp lines used symbolise the cutting through of words, phrases and media headlines that not only relate to life in general, but the frenetic gathering of all within the social web.

Its important to me that such a work conveys emotion and expression, but without the need to contain an object or a form as we know it. The origin is in geometric abstraction and Orphism. Unlike my other distinctive style, the dominating force is social commentary, as opposed to emotional release.

80 x 80 x 1 cm.
