Original artwork description:

This painting is an exploration into the moment the United States killed Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan. I saw the image on the Internet and proceeded to create an image that captured something of this moment. Through experimenting with pixels and construction previous paintings exploring the role of digital photography and film, I proceeded to create a diptych of this photographic image, spliting the image into two parts. The Moment #1 shows President Obama in casual dress [Golf] capturing a measured response/ reaction to whatever was happening on the screen, something which moved Hilary Clinton so much in her reaction.
The construction of the piece plays with colour and process of material, playing with the idea of the pixed image of the digital image. These ideas on the photographic and the non-existence of a photographic negative led me to new ideas involving pixels, negatives and exploration into what exactly constitutes the term 'photograph or photographic image' in the age of the digital reality we are part of in the contemporary world.
