I painted 'The Medway Queen Paddle Steamer, hero of Dunkirk' on location at her moorings at Gillingham Pier on the river Medway, as a guest of the Rochester Art Society.
It was a lovely day, with a slight breeze, and fishermen were there at the end of the jetty.
I was attracted by the old steamer herself, built in 1924 and her courageous crew, who in WW2 rescued over 7000 men from the Dunkirk battlefield. As I was painting, the sun shone and reflected in the water, which I've tried to capture.
This is an original oil painting on canvas board and it comes to you, ready to frame.
It is NOT framed, so the photos are to show how it might look on your wall. It would make a lovely gift to someone who remembers these old paddle steamers, or who knows or who grew up in the area.
I have signed it on the front, in the lower left corner and It comes to you carefully wrapped and with a signed certificate of authenticity.
