A door leading from a villa into a garden in Tuscany. Slightly mysterious. Very intriguing.
I painted this while visiting a house in the hills overlooking Florence. It's six hundred years old and looks like it must have been a hunting lodge or vacation home. With wooden beamed ceilings, red terracotta floors, big windows and high ceilings. The gardens are full of flowers and almost rambling trees. A mix between wild and manicured where nature stands a chance. A very inspiring place where you just want to use thicker paint to capture that substance.
Stretched canvas painted with oils.
