The Golden Gaze is an intimate portrait of a blue-and-gold macaw, captured to showcase the extraordinary detail, colour and character of this striking bird.

The deep blue feathers and vibrant golden plumage stand dramatically against the dark, softly blurred background, while the macaw’s expressive eye becomes the natural focal point of the image. I wanted this photograph to feel almost like a traditional painted portrait while still preserving the fine textures and natural imperfections that make the bird unique.

Wildlife photography is a huge part of my work, and I’m particularly drawn to close portraits that allow the viewer to appreciate details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
