The Experience of Silence (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Alina Lobanova

“The Experience of Silence” is an abstract landscape painting in acrylic on canvas, in which a familiar Ukrainian landscape dissolves into soft pink, orange, blue, and grey-violet tones. Layered translucent brushwork and expressive free-form marks create a sense of water, light, reflections, and a space that continuously shifts through perception.

This work continues my “The Experience of Silence” series, in which I explore nature as an active participant in dialogue. I draw from familiar Ukrainian landscapes, but I do not aim to reproduce them exactly instead, I am interested in what happens within me while observing them.

Here, the landscape becomes a moment of immersion: a familiar place slows the movement of thought and allows me simply to remain present. Abstraction helps me convey not so much a specific landscape as the feeling it evokes the pleasure of being surrounded by nature, attentiveness to its subtle changes, and the quiet dialogue that emerges without words.
