Artwork description:

For this piece, I took inspiration from the iconic Malick Sidibe photograph, “Nuit de Noël” to recreate the intimacy of a Christmas night dance. This is an update of the original Dancing Couple artwork in which I incorporated a midnight blue sky and matooke trees in the backdrop.

This a fine art print which incorporates digital scan a collage, comprising batik and and layers of digitally added batik.

The paper is a natural white cotton watercolour paper akin to traditional etching paper. The paper is cotton based, unbleached and made to museum archival specifications. The inks used are premium quality Epson Ultrachrome K3 pigmented inks. These inks are remarkably stable and under normal conditions will not fade for 100 years and beyond.

Materials used:

Paper and batik
