This is a 1995 photograph of the interior of a curio shop in the Cours Saleya area of Nice, France. I failed to learn the name of the shop but have referred to the image as "The Curio Shop" because of the curious and unusual objects placed side by side without obvious justification for the location of proximate objects. Visible in the image is a horse and rider, a witch pointing a cautioning finger, lamps, candle sticks and candelabra, a vase, chairs, mirrors, a Perrier sign, a portrait of a gentleman, a "Thanks for Coming In" sign, a model of a ship and automobile, old photos and various other items. When I returned to the exact location a year or two later, the curio shop had been replaced by a convenience store.
This photograph was created from a Kodak Tri-X negative scanned with a Nikon Super Coolscan 8000 and processed via Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop before being printed as a giclee on archival 100% cotton rag fine art paper.
