Artist's description:

"When wonder is chased from our thinking about landscape, we are lost." Robert MacFarlane

This large work in pastel and ink was created to evoke a sense of awe, the kind of feeling that comes when in the presence of a powerful landscape. I wanted the Mountain itself to appear as a 'being' in its own right, and to be reaching toward the infinite, the darkening night sky. The pastel is crumbled and applied using the fingers, and the ink work is done using a traditional dip pen. This piece is quite striking, and would suit a larger space.
