Artist's description:

I already had this picture in my head when I was painting the flamingo. I wanted to paint a puffin because of their striking colours and initially I imagined him sitting on a cliff with a stormy sea and that is what I painted, but then I was sitting in bed one night staring at him for ages and I imagined him tucked away safe in a little cave with the storm raging outside. I am a member of the National Trust and in their magazine there was the word 'Burra' meaning 'a sheltered spot out of the wind', perfect!

For me he represents home, sanctuary, safe from the world outside. As with all my canvases, the sides are painted, leaving the option to frame up to you.
