London has always had a place in my heart, having been born and schooled there. It is majestic and unforgettable in its architecture and always leaves an impression impregnated in my minds eye. I have tried to capture the structures and boldness of the city in loose unconfined sketches. I love the freedom and instant gratification a pen drawing allows. No frigidity or erasing of any line or curve, produces a lively impression of my chosen vistas.
This is a bold loose pen drawing of St Paul's Cathedral and surrounding city buildings from the Thames. It is sketched on Hahnemuhle paper. I have put a loose clear water wash over certain areas of pen work, to loosen the pen's pigment in order to give it a slight orange tinge of colour in various places.I have also added some ink wash too.
