Artist's description:

The Terzolle river which runs through Florence and out across the farmland of Tuscany in the heat of summer. The water level becomes pretty low and it's possible to paint in the shelter of the bridges shadow, along the riverbed.

I think this painting captures the sense of hazy heat as distant objects become vague and shimmer, yet things nearby are sharp and crisp.

The distant view looks towards Fiesole on the hills.

En plein air, painted in watercolour.
Fabriano paper 300g.
50% cotton.
