Convalescing in a 5th floor apartment overlooking Tenby Harbour I’m compelled to paint the amazing scene below the balcony and across the harbour. The new lifeboat house and the old refurbished one (made famous by Grand Designs) occupy the top left quarter; gardens and the road leading to the town shown below, and the town itself with it’s tall luridly painted terraces are top right. I’m intrigued by pattern from sunlight through winter trees and the colour of sunlight on textured surfaces. The trees are orange against a yellow beach and the April sun casts purple shadows – better than a pill to make you feel better and raise your spirits.

Materials used:

watercolours, fine art paper, white wooden frame, picture glass
