Painting: Oil, cold wax medium, charcoal, pigment powder and marble dust on archival quality wooden panel
Size: 41 H x 41 W x 2 cm
This painting has been created using a cold wax medium on a high quality cradled board. It is primarily abstract and based on a response to landscape, open skies, stained walls and textured materials. It is difficult to portray the precise physicality of this work in photographs. The surface of the painting has a range of textural qualities and gestural markings created by both controlled and chance intervention. The image consists of successive layers of oil paint suspended in a cold wax medium with the subsequent erasure and reinstatement of surfaces, colors and details. The cold wax allows for fine marks and incisions to be made with a variety of tools and instruments. The colors are warm and restrained with a rich patina suggesting the continuing passage of time.
Finally, the hardened wax surface is selectively burnished to a soft reflective sheen enhancing the sense of tangibility and translucency.
This painting does not require framing and is ready to hang with mid grey toned edges
