This work was among a series I did that celebrated the nostalgic taste of vanilla ice cream.
It was inspired by my daughter who when she was 12 would ask me to make her an ice cream sundae. We would sit together and enjoy the moment.
This piece is a little symbolic. Here we have a purple cat sipping from a chalice and under his foot is a trapped serpent.
The chest, the chalice, the serpent, and the cat all can be interpreted as symbols of good and evil. In this case my purple cat has successfully guarded the chest and has earned his reward.
As for the true meaning of this piece I will leave that up to the viewer to decide.
