Artwork description:

I was commissioned to recreate a third version of my “Tempest” image as the first two editions sold out some time ago.
It has been an image which has struck a cord with many out there and since my very first edition I’ve received some beautiful messages from collectors explaining their personal reasons for wanting to buy the piece.
I think more than ever this image means so much more than I could’ve envisaged 5 years ago when I was going through upheavals of my own and this picture came into my mind.
Now with the two and a half hugely difficult years the world has had to go through and some who are still going through, it may have regained significance in its meaning even more so.
Originally this linocut had nothing to do with Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'. Although the female would’ve made a good Miranda.
It was the idea that we are not in control of what happens outside of us, that storms (literal and more personal types of storms) can batter all around you but that you must stay strong until it blows over. And inevitably all storms do pass.
These are the first of what will be a variable and limited edition of 30.
Please be aware that there will be textural anomalies and embossing due to the handmade nature of this work.

Dimensions 28 x 38 cm (unframed) / 23 x 32.5 cm (actual image size)
Edition size Limited edition of 30

Materials used:

Somerset satin 250gsm oil based inks
