Artist's description:

This painting was painted in response to a brief on irrational phobias, for an exhibition celebrating Hitchcock's films at Artefacto in Leytonstone. Many people have since commented that they relate to the painting- apparently telephonophobia is quite common. As we humans are such social animals, and we take a lot of social cues visually, talking to a disembodied voice can be disorientating and distressing.
