Artist's description:

I painted this in response to the growing fragility of our economic base. The painting is drawn from an imagined cityscape on the water, cracked and straining for cohesion against a darkly implacable horizon. One of my more abstract pieces, and carefully textured to enhance the feeling of cracks beginning to show. The work was created as part of a touring exhibition I showed in 2014, 'We are not in the least afraid of ruins', reflecting on the very human tendency to tear down and rebuild.

Materials used:

Cotton canvas, acrylic paint, planed softwood stretchers

Teetering on the edge (2014)
