For me Annecy has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Set close to the foothills of the Alps by a beautiful lake there are many opportunities for photographers. However I tend to prefer to walk the streets looking for some spark to ignite my interest and this came when wandering the town one night in summer. At Rue Royale I came across this wonderful and evocative band of dancers, accompanied by a man on double bass. I tend not to linger too long so as to not attract the attention of my subject so I only took two frames. The one you see before you and one in between dances when the two are holding each other completely oblivious to all outsiders. The one word that has come to describe the image is JOY. I cannot argue with that. There is simply something so beautiful and joyful about the image, the dance, the two together in harmony. Perhaps I'll never photograph something so perfect again. But that's fine - this will do. This is a recently released size.
