The latest from my Endless Summer Series... I love the sand, sea, and surf - though I am more inclined to watch and paint! I am a devoted sun-worshiper and devoted to my dear girlfriends, so this image evolved to capture some of that shared joy of whiling away hours at the beach.
This painting is done on an inch-and-a-half deep boxed frame birch panel; wired and ready to hang with no frame needed. The edges are clear sealed birch. I use several coats of clear professional grade sealer on the wood before painting oils with my palette knife and give it a light varnish. It has fantastic texture and peeks at the natural birch beneath the paint give the piece more dimension.
