Artist's description:

This is a study of shallows along the north fork of the Lewis River, Battleground, WA. Fellow members of The Northwest Oil Painters' Guild (NOPG) were having a picnic at Daybreak Park and several of us spent the afternoon painting along the River. The warm colors of the submerged boulders and subtle surface reflection provided an intriguing subject that is as much abstract as realistic. This is a unique artwork painted alla prima on location.

Materials used:

Oil paint on gessoed masonite
