IMPORTANT NOTE. Both pieces BEFORE and AFTER come TOGETHER , not separately.
'Still life. Before and after' is a new series of illustrations through which I explore and analyze a contemporary approach to such a traditional subject that has been practiced through centuries by Old Masters of art in painting, sculptures and drawings. Beautifully composed still life were always full of symbols that linked to life and its meaning. Today we have all sorts of food available for us depends on your mood , taste and needs.
In this project I am not only exploring food that I like and met through visiting different countries and cultures, but also the way it has been consumed, treated without any limits good manners. I try to imagine, how beautifully served and composed meal could look after the consumption; how disturbing and even disgusting it could be. How a perfect and pleasurable taste and look of food, whiteout any control, could effect it's presentation and meaning. Contemporary way of serving and selling food is making us to get used to eat only food that looks pretty and almost perfect. The fact of trying to hide the imperfection of the nature effects our way of thinking and living. We being told how to behave, how and what to eat and at the same time we push away our true nature. Doesn't matter how hard we try, we are not perfect as human being and we will never be. To accept this fact will help us to start to see a beauty in imperfection again.
