Original artwork description:

A bright, fresh still life painting featuring an assortment of brass objects, a venetian mask and several vessels on a wooden shelf, painted against a soft yellow ground. In this work, morning sunlight casts gentle blue shadows behind the objects, reflecting off the gold surfaces in this warm-hued, rustic vignette.

I began this work by underpainting in an opaque mixture of yellow and white, then blocking in the shadows and darker areas. Predominantly working wet on wet, I began to blend in the lighter areas, beginning with the large brass jug in the background. After painting each object, I used a soft, dry brush to gently blend the still-wet paint to create a soft, smooth look to the image.
This work is ready to hang.
