This pastel drawing was a spontaneous and fun deviation from my usual media of oils. I love using pastels on this suede board. It's as if a million little fibers are sitting on the surface with their tiny arms outstretched in anticipation of grabbing my stroke. With that, I love how I am able to approach my subject. This hulky bear stands on his hind legs with an intent stare back at the viewer. His broad stance and alert posture instantly command attention. Can you imagine catching a glimpse of him in the woods?!
