Artist's description:

Seldom does realism make a seamless crossover to abstraction. I believe this is one of those moments. I can see this piece enlarged tenfold to knock one’s socks off. This is a small work, only 5x10 inches yet it seems to retain the feeling of the immensity of the heavens. This is one cut from a series of skyworks ( a coined term) that I am currently working on in small niches of spare time. The sky has always been fascinating for me as you can see from my tonalist series also on this site. I vacillate from blues to deep grays using the same technique as on these small works. I recommend this picture to be framed with not less than a 2" wide frame in a dark tone to set off the blue values of the coloring.

Materials used:

Oil on 1/4" Primed Masonite

Stairway to Heaven (2016)
